aBOUT THE ARTIST

Hello! Welcome to Angie’s SPFX! My name is Angie Acosta, and I am the owner, lead artist and creative director here. I am a makeup artist who can do both beauty and special fx work, but I tend to specialize in FX makeup. I’ve loved being creative for as long as I can remember. The first time I played with makeup I was just 6 years old, and growing up I thought I wanted to be an actress. I would show up to these acting classes with a red lip or glitter all over my eyes, and just being able to have fun and express yourself with makeup was always something I enjoyed. Growing up I really enjoyed movies, I would watch BTS from my favorite films growing up and listen to film scores in my free time. I was originally drawn to beauty makeup and at 14 years old, I decided that being a makeup artist is what I’d like to do with my future. Some films that inspired my passion for special fx were Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 and Friday the 13th. When I was 18, I attended my first makeup school in my home state called Multimedia Makeup Academy in Troy, MI. During my time in school, I had the opportunity to work on two feature films. The first film I had worked on was Runnin from Wolves which is available to watch on Tubi/Prime. The second film I had worked on was called Finding Nicole which I was brought on to assist my instructor from school. In August 2022, I started working at Erebus Haunted Attraction in Pontiac, MI as an airbrush makeup artist. Erebus is such a welcoming environment and also one of the longest haunts in the world with being four floors long. In October 2023, I attended the Creature Concept Design Program at Cinema Makeup School in Los Angeles, CA. I taught myself how to body-paint and used myself as my canvas. I did a social media makeup challenge for 3 years called “31 Days of Halloween” and instead of getting costumes to make my looks complete, I thought why not just paint it on myself? Since then, I have worked on 5+ feature films, many short films, fashion shows, photoshoots and I always do makeup on myself whenever I can. If you’re in need of a makeup or a special fx artist for your project, I would love to work with you and bring your vision to life.
